- Think about next year's Auction
- Now that the Convention is over, it's time to start thinking about next year's Auction. You need to prepare a list of items that you propose to consign to the Auction, as the list is due no later than August 31, 2017. Check the Auction page for details.
- 2017 Convention - AWESOME !
- The 2017 Convention is now history - and history-making. The showroom at the Pritchard-Laughlin Center in Cambridge, Ohio, was filled to capacity with dealers exhibiting perhaps the finest selection of glassware ever seen at our Convention. The crowd was enthusiastic, perhaps influenced to stay late on Friday due to a rather severe downpour, which did NOT dampen the enthusiasm in the room.
- The trip to "The Wilds" was a delightful addition for those who participated. Our Board member and Secretary Sharon Miller acted as tour guide, entertaining the group and educating them about the large variety of endangered species being cared for at the "Wilds" facility.
- The theme of the Convention, "Animal House" was apparent in the lobby area where there were beautiful displays of not only Cambridge Animals but those by other manufacturers as well. An impressive display of his "dolphin" candlesticks were later enhanced by a seminar presented by Zak McCamey. And the keynote on "Cambridge Animals" was delivered by Board member Lynn Welker.
- Comfort Inn extends rate offer for 2017
- The Comfort Inn in Cambridge has extended their special rate for "Cambridge Glass Collectors" of $79/night for another year. The same offer is available at the Sleep Inn (located next to the Comfort Inn and owned by the same company). The offer is good any time of the year 2017. We wish to thank the management of these hotels for this offer. Here is a list of motels in the Cambridge area, with current rates.
- NCC Honors
- After Thursday night's presentation on Cambridge Animals by Lynn Welker, President David Ray surprised Lynn by informing him that the Board had voted the day before to name him a lifetime member. This is the highest honor bestowed by National Cambridge Collectors, reflecting a body of achievement and volunteer service.
- On Friday, Jane Filippini received the 2017 Phyllis Smith Award for outstanding, unsung efforts in behalf of NCC. Jane has been, among many things, part of the Glass Show team (coordinating Show Hosts), writes all donation acknowledgment letters and, with husband Ken, creates and mails all Annual Fund packages.
- President David Ray was honored Saturday night as he concluded seven consecutive years as President of NCC. David did not seek re-election for family reasons. The Board elected Rick Jones to succeed David.
- New Book on Rose Point - 2nd Edition
- Last year's Convention featured a new book on Cambridge's most popular etching: Rose Point. The spiral-bound book is the product of multiple years of meticulous work by member Gary Turner, who has been
collecting Rose Point for years. The second edition contains additional photographs of items not shown in the first printing. The book is available from NCC for $29.99 plus $5 shipping, and you can
purchase it on eBay.
- Membership renewal on-line
- Look for our Annual Fund mailing in April. This year, we have added the capability to renew your membership online on the main web site (not on this
mobile site - sorry). The Annual Fund drive is the primary fund raising program to support the ongoing Museum operations as well as to add to the Endowment fund.
- Notice the 'Giving Works' logo
- The "Giving Works" logo (at the bottom of the page) takes you to an eBay site where you can make a donation to the National Museum of Cambridge Glass using PayPal. We'll leave it there, just above the link to the eBay store where we sell publications and memberships via eBay.
